The Diploma Program of the IB
This program was created at the end of the 1960’s and since then:
In order to live in the interconnected and globalized world of the 21st. century, it is required to have critical thinking skills and an international mentality. The education given in de Diploma Program of the International Baccalaureate (IB) prepares students to learn how to recognize and understand this requirement.
Our curriculum
The students of the IB Diploma Program take six different subjects at higher or standard levels. They must choose a subject from each of groups 1 to 5. This way, a wide experience in languages, social studies, experimental sciences and mathematics is guaranteed.
The sixth subject can be chosen from Group 6 (Arts), or from any of the groups 1 to 5. Students must take three or four higher level subjects (240 school hours recommended). The subjects can be taken and evaluated in Spanish, French or English.
During the program, students will understand and become familiarized with the profile of the IB learning community. The 10 attributes of the program inspire and encourage the teachers’, students’ and schools’ work, providing them a statement of the IB’s objectives and values, and a definition of what “international-mindedness” means. The members of the IB learning community make an effort to be investigators, thinkers, good communicators, courageous, informed and educated, upright, open-minded, supportive, balanced and thoughtful.
