APDE’s schools have the support of the Opus Dei Prelature; it is responsible for appointing chaplains or priests who take of the students’ spiritual guidance. APDE’s philosophy is “we believe in the development of humans and therefore we promote it. We have faith in life; we work with optimism, encouraging the practice of human virtues in our educational community. We promote having respect for human dignity, being responsible of our actions, and the search for truth. Parents, teachers and students work together for education.” The educational objective of APDE’s schools can be summarized in offering a quality education that focuses on the person, according to the Christian conception of men and life. In order to achieve this objective, and in coherence with the institution’s ideology, the education we give follows specific characteristics: • Parents have the right and inalienable duty of being the first and most important characters in their children’s education. The school cooperates with them and gives them the necessary means and counseling to carry out this task. • School and parents must share the same educational ideals so they can give children an education that is coherent, and therefore guarantee its effectiveness. |
• The school seeks the personalized education of each student, as a unique and unrepeatable person, who must reach the fullest development possible of her abilities and aptitudes. • With the objective of helping a person reach his or her full and harmonic development, we promote a comprehensive education that envelops all areas of personality: corporeity, intelligence, will, affection, and transcendental meaning. When intelligence is nourished by truth and will is strengthened by virtues, it is possible to reach the unity of life that allows a person to be coherent, strong and stable, and therefore: happy. • Our school’s environment must be of freedom and respect for each person. • Our students must have at school all the necessary means to develop with harmony their personality. It is here where they will learn to study, and where they will gain the skills, habits and knowledge that will make them capable of being successful in their university education. • Teachers must be education experts and act as the parents’ counselors regarding their children’s education. To achieve this, we have a permanent training program for teachers, through courses of spiritual education, personal improvement and professional updating.

In the Primary school, we apply the SNIPE Program by Fomento de Centros de Enseñanza, Spain. With this program, we work on skills of thinking, knowledge and moral reasoning, and on strengthening will through virtues. In the Middle school grades, we apply the International Baccalaureate® Middle Years Program and the International Baccalaureate® Diploma Program.
Parents are the main characters in their daughters’ education. For this reason, we constantly offer lectures for parents, named “Aulas Permanentes” (school for parents). They are also invited to participate in school activities by becoming leading parents of a grade – MEG –, cooperators, etc.
We give a personalized and single-sex (for girls only) education. Each girl has a counselor who gives her personalized attention, so she can set her own project of life, and is able to use properly her personal freedom and an upright criterion based on truth.
